Cheat Sheet [Drapes]

You've chosen your Color (Chocolate, Green, Turquoise, Charcoal, Rust) and Length (8' or 10'), but now do you need a guide to getting your drapery measurements right? Below are Designer Hanging Tips and Advice for creating the perfect window treatment...

TIP #1: "Mount curtains as high as possible to give the room more height, and let them break 1 1/2 inches on the floor." (Miles Redd)

TIP #2: "Curtains should be 2 1/2 to 3 times the width of the window. So if you're doing two panels, each should be 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 times the window width." (Libby Langdon)

Tip #3: "Buy a rod that is 20 inches wider than your window so it extends 1o inches on either side. Your window will seem much wider than it really is." (Libby Langdon)

Tip #4: Drapery panels are an inexpensive and simple way to add color to your space. Buy neutral furniture and colorful draperies for added flair.
