Fall Forecast

We wish summer would never end, but it's Labor Day Weekend and time to start thinking about autumn. The kids are back in school and the cooler weather is blowing in. Below are 5 ways to get your home stylin' for this crisp, colorful season.

STYLE UPDATE: 2011 Fall/Winter Trends

Trend: FUR

Whether you’re a fan of faux or genuine, fur is spot on for the fall and winter months. To add warmth and texture to your space layer a faux fur throw over your sofa. For a more dramatic look, add a cowhide rug or a couple of cube ottomans to your room.

Trend: TECHNICOLOR

Luminescent colors aren’t just reserved for summer anymore. Pair bright colored accessories, art and rugs with neutral colored basics to make a bold winter statement.

Trend: MIXING OLD + NEW

Combining old and new pieces for an eclectic look is all the rage. Place an antique sideboard with a modern sofa. Or try adding a graphic print like Houndstooth or Tweed. These classic, old-school menswear patterns are being upholstered on clean line furniture creating a traditional look, with a modern twist.

Trend: METALLICS

Winter is the time to shine. Metallics are back in a big way. Mix high shine accessories and accent furniture with warm colored fabrics, leather and wood for a contrasting, chic style.

Trend: DEEP TEAL

The global authority on color, Pantone, has named Deep Teal as one of the “it” colors of fall/winter 2011. Deep teal can be added to any space, since this strong, blue-toned green looks just as great with neutrals as it does when paired with bright orange or red.
