She's a Brick, HOUSE {living rooms}

Living Room Design can be tricky. It should Echo the homeowners' Taste, but also be Welcoming to Guests. Most importantly, a Living Room should make people Feel at Ease. In these Before Photos you'll see all the wrong kinds of contrast, which can make one feel unsettled. We Created a Fresh, more Comforting Balance.

{Downstairs}

BeforeYIKES, Emerald Green Marble with a Shiny Brass Fireplace? Those Stark White Built-in Cabinets outlined by Beige Paint? Too many finishes really took away from the Beautiful Architecture of the Fireplace. Surprise, Surprise... they had to move out!

During AFTER What a Difference! By tearing out the built-ins, painting the entire space white and replacing the Green Marble with Ivory, you can actually see the Detail of the Fireplace! The flanking Mirrors help to center the space. Now your eyes aren't jolting all over the place. They go directly to the focal point- the Fireplace.

Before AFTERNever block out a Gorgeous Landscape! Drapery panels give you privacy at night, without obstructing your view during the day (like plantation shutters). The furniture arrangement also lends itself to the outdoor scene. By using four chairs and a sofa, instead of a large sectional, nothing blocks the flow to the outdoor patio. The Irregular Shaped Stumps add a Natural, Free Form touch to this very Symmetrical and Structured arrangement. By Bringing the Outdoors in, a Laid-back element is introduced. This prevents the room from feeling too fussy.

{Upstairs}

Before During AFTER The contrast between the beige walls, white molding and half windows made this large room feel squaty. By removing the ceiling fan, painting the walls and adding floor to ceiling Drapery Panels the room gained a lot of height. The standard beige carpeting was replaced with a sisal carpeting to add texture.

Before AFTER Before, even the brick fireplace looked Short and Out of Scale. The pink brick was painted with the color Black Fox (SW7020). Hanging a flat screen above the fireplace created Balance. Finally, Perfectly Angled custom Sectionals, an extra large Floor Mirror, Canvas Art, a Cow Hide and unique 1492 Collection pieces completed the MODERN ECLECTIC look.

Before During AFTER A sloped ceiling can be hard to work around. Add two-tones of paint to it and everything you want to be unnoticed is accentuated. What is one to do with a small landing off the upstairs living room? Create a game area! By painting and replacing the ceiling fan with a lighting fixture that matches the rest in the house, this awkward space becomes the perfect nook for card games or homework. The rattan chairs correspond well with the carpeting across the room and down the stairs. *** Overall, this house now has Functional and Calming Living Spaces, where people actually want to Hangout!***
