Put Your Best Face Forward

We all know the significance of first impressions! This is why the entryway of your home is so important. Don’t just focus on interior rooms, but create a stylish, welcoming, clutter free entrance as well. Remember, unlike most of the rooms in your home, ALL guests will see your entryway. A well done front entrance will insure your friends have a fabulous first (and last) impression of your home.

These three tips, from the DECORATING DIVA, will help you create an impressive entry.

1. Change Your Perspective. Look at the entry way to your home with “fresh eyes”. What do you see when you approach the entry for the “first time”? Does it convey your style? Does it welcome you? Does it inspire you? Is it beautiful and serene or is it cluttered and chaotic? Once inside the house, standing in the foyer or hall – what is it about that point in the home that appeals to your senses? Does it provide a truthful introduction to the rest of the home’s interior?

2. Start Outside. Create an intuitive and welcoming path to your front door. Remove clutter, keep the path and front door areas free of obstructions, keep the landscaping well manicured and choose outdoor decor that mirrors the design within your home.

3. The Entry. This is the place to use decor, furniture, fragrance and visual objects to help you, your family and guests decompress, to relax, and to leave the chaos behind. Choose a signature home scent and extend your signature decorating style to this area – make this room unmistakably yours. As with the outdoor decor, you also should mirror the interior style of your home in the entry. http://thedecoratingdiva.com/3-easy-steps-to-create-an-inviting-entry-to-your-home/
