I.O. METRO's 5 Steps for Purchasing a Sofa

1. Before you go to purchase your sofa, measure the room in which you plan to place it. Always remember to measure your doorways too; in order to make sure that you will be able to bring the piece inside!

2. Think towards the future when choosing the color for your sofa. If you plan to keep it for a while, choose a more neutral color that can be used with any decor. You can always add splashes of color with decorative pillows and throws.

3. You can purchase or customize sofas in a variety of fabrics, including leather which is easy to clean. Choose a fabric that is going to be functional for the people using the sofa.

4. Consider the design of the sofa in comparison to your decor. For example, if you are looking for something more formal go for an upholstered sofa or curved arm, but for something more casual a skirted sofa or sectional with a chaise would be great. Also think about how the sofa will be used. For example a sectional is great for lounging and watching TV, but might not fit well in a very formal living room.

5. Finally, test drive the sofa! Never just buy something off line without sitting on it first! You want to make sure it is stylish, comfortable, and fits your body size and lifestyle!
