“Select overscale and comfortable upholstered furniture and float it within the room, accenting with tall lamps. A sofa paired with two standing lamps for general illumination will anchor a space, and the lamps will act as sculptural elements. Add a pair of armchairs, and upholster all in the same fabric. For contrast, use light fabric colors against light floors. Add a few large-scale accessories, and select interesting tables from places such as mainland China, as they’re still affordable.
