C: Your partnership with I.O. Metro seems like a match made in design heaven! Tell us about that partnership.

VY: My partnership with I.O. Metro really is a match made in heaven. From the very beginning of my designing career–even before television days – expressing yourself through interiors was really important and it continues to be really important. That’s what I say to every client, whether they’re a television client or a personal client or whatever. Your home should be a manifestation of you. And nobody is one style. Nobody is all traditional or all contemporary or all Asian or all whatever. We’re all multifaceted people and to be able to have a store that will allow you to have a home that’s representative of you is so important. I.O. Metro has all of these elements. You can combine eclectic, contemporary, Asian, whatever it is that you want that’s personally you, you can find it there and it can be individually molded to you.
The other thing that I really love about it is that its high quality at an accessible price point. I always say to people just because something is inexpensive, doesn’t mean it’s poor quality. And the flip side is also true. Just because something is expensive doesn’t mean it’s great quality. I.O. Metro has managed to really make high quality, well-designed products affordable and accessible to the public. At the end of the day, that’s what we need to do. People still want their homes to be amazing and special. It’s where the most important moments of your life unfold, but they don’t want to break the bank doing it. Especially during these economic times, we still have to put food on the table, send our kids to school, and pay the mortgage. All these things are really, really important. You don’t have to sacrifice having a wonderful home just because you have to meet those necessities in life and I.O. Metro certainly helps get you there.

C: What’s your favorite piece of furniture that you’ve found at I.O. Metro?

VY: I love anything that’s got a little bit of industrial quality or reclaimed quality. All the reclaimed wood pieces there are really, really special. The reclaimed tables, the bookshelves. All the pieces are really, really nice. I also like the fact that you can customize your upholstery without breaking the bank. That’s so important. We talked about making your home a physical manifestation of you and having it be individualized. Customizing your upholstery is a wonderful way to do that. They’ve got 12,000 original options and over 500 fabrics to pick from. So it really makes that process easy so you get exactly what you want and not exactly what your neighbor has. To me, that’s really nice.
