Fun Fact: "The Barcelona chair was created for the King and Queen to use in the German Pavilion at the 1929 International Exposition in Barcelona, Spain. The chair, which nearly created more excitement than the beautiful Pavilion itself, was the result of the corroboration of renowned architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, who designed the pavilion as well, and architect Lilly Reich. The folding chairs that were favorites of ancient Egyptian royalty and Roman folding footstools were the inspiration for the design" (via).
